Aminul Islam Re-Elected as BCB President

Aminul Islam has been re-elected as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president following the board election held at a city hotel on Monday, October 6, 2025. Former national skipper Khaled Mashud was also elected to the BCB board as one of the 23 directors.

Election Highlights

Mashud, who captained Bangladesh in the early years of its Test journey, secured 35 votes from the former cricketers, government, and autonomous bodies category (Category 3). According to returning officer Dr Sheikh Jubayed Hasan, the 23 directors were elected from three categories:

• 10 from district and division representatives
• 12 from Dhaka clubs
• 1 from former players/government/autonomous bodies

The directors then elected Aminul Islam as president, while Shakhawat Hossain and Faruque Ahmed were elected vice-presidents. Chief election commissioner Mohammad Hossain confirmed, “Aminul Islam is elected unopposed as BCB president. The vice-president posts were filled by Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain and Faruque Ahmed.”

Voter Turnout

Out of 156 eligible votes, 115 were cast, marking a turnout of 73.71%, reflecting strong engagement from district representatives, Dhaka clubs, and former players.
